Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Due to the weather, and blocked roads around the mill we have had to close.

Defra have announced that following a second finding of avian influenza in wild birds in Warwickshire an extended prevention zone now applies across the whole of England. This is not a housing order but a legal requirement to follow strict biosecurity procedures and applies to all bird keepers, whether having just a few birds to commercial size flocks.

On 10 April the UK Chief Veterinary Officer announced that from 13 April, housing or range netting would no longer be required in Higher Risk Areas. This decision was taken on the basis of the latest veterinary advice and scientific evidence which concluded that the level of risk to poultry in the Higher Risk Areas has now reduced to the same level as that across the rest of England.
